Dear Taxpayer,
Rental Tax
Credit Recall
We have had both returning and new
clients asking about rental tax credit! As we have told most of the returning
clients, Alpha GTS is NOT processing this credit at all this year. However, we have previously processed
returns that claimed this particular deduction.
Last year after the tax season, we
learned that the form which we used for this credit was wrong. We also learned
that rental tax credit is a credit that is only applied at state level, and
that not all the states are eligible for this credit. This was totally
accidental and we hope you bear with us as we correct this!
As a result of this development,
Alpha GTS is therefore recalling all returns that have claimed this credit in
the past. Alpha GTS will be responsible for processing this correction
(amendment/1040X) at no charge. Once your amendment has been processed, you
will be required to submit it to the IRS with payment (if any). NOTE: Payment(s) arrangement(s) can be
made directly with IRS if needed.
IRS is aware of this. On March 17th,
IRS special agents and I had a lengthy conversation about the subject and I
informed the IRS that I will be sending this notice.
HOW CAN I KNOW IF I CLAIMED RENTAL TAX CREDIT?
1.
Line
17 on your 1040 should have a value (1040A/1040E not applicable), OR
2.
Call
the office and ask for Adam;

3.
Send
